Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

WRITING GUIDELINES

Manuscripts are written concisely, clearly, and informative. Manuscripts in the forms of research result or review contain new ideas that can be a solution to solving problems, especially in the flield of Biology. A manuscript is limited between 2000-3000 words, from abstract to conclusion. The entire text is written in Cambrian font face.

Manuscripts are written in either Indonesian or English. For the Indonesian manuscript, the language structure and vocabulary used must appropriate with The Enhanced Spelling of the Indonesian Language (EYD).

Before being submitted, manuscripts must be checked for spelling and grammar as well as approved by all authors. The structure of manuscript must follow the Writing Guidelines of this journal. All references cited in the body of text must be mentioned in the reference part, and vice versa. Color image is just showed if information in the text could be lost without the color. Graph and image are presented in black and white colors, with shading used as a distinction.

A research paper consists of the main sections: Title, Author, Affiliation, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Research Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgment, and References. Meanwhile, a review paper consists of the main sections: Title, Author, Affiliation, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Core Section (broken down into several sub-topics of discussion), Conclusion, Acknowledgment, and References. There are no any attachment part in this journal. All important data is included in the Results and Discussion section (research paper) or core section (review paper).

The title is written solid, briefly, informative, consisting of 10-20 words. If the manuscript is written in Indonesian, the title is written in Indonesian (the first letter of each word is written in capital [except for preposition or conjunction other than at the beginning of the title], font size 14, Bold) and English (the first letter of the first word is written in capital, font size 12, no-Bold) respectively. Meanwhile, for the manuscript that is written in English, the title is just written in English (the first letter of each word is written in capital [except for preposition or conjunction other than at the beginning of the title], font size 14, Bold).

Author's Name First, middle and last names are not abbreviated. The name of author is written fully without degree of education (unless the title of patrician, for example Raden = Rd., Tubagus = Tb.), font size 11, capital, bold. If there are two or more authors, their names are separated by a comma without a conjunction of 'and' before the last author's name.

Affiliation of Author Name and address of office are written respectively : name of program/department, faculty, institution/university, street and number, name of city/sub-district/district, ZIP or postal code, province, phone number of office, facsimile, email for correspondence. This section is written in font size 10, starting with a capital letter in each word, no-Bold, not ending with a dot symbol.

The abstract is written briefly, 150-200 words, font size 10. For the research paper, the abstract must be informative and describes briefly about the background, the purpose of research, the research methodology, the results of the research, and conclusion. Meanwhile, the review paper includes the background, the purpose of writing, discussion summary, and conclusion. The abstract is presented separately from the full text. References should not mentioned in the abstract. If the manuscript is written in Indonesian, the abstract is written in Indonesian and English, respectively. If the manuscript is written in English, the abstract is written in English only.

Keywords are written between 3-5 words, covering the object of research/review, method, and the topic of research/review. Keywords are sorted from A to Z, the first keyword begins with a capital letter, font size 10. Keywords are written in Indonesian and/or English according to the abstract.

Abbreviations are written in full at the first mention, then it is enough to write the abbreviations consistently. Abbreviations are written with a font size of 10.

The Sirahan title consist of 3-5 words. This title can be written based on the title of manuscript. This title is written in the header part with a font size of 10. The title of the Sirahan is written in Indonesian or English, according to the language used in the manuscript.

Introduction includes 400-600 words, describes the background and purpose of research/review. The aim of research is written in the last paragraph of introduction. Citation refers to the American Psychological Association (APA) format. Reference at the end of a sentence is written in a system of "(last name, year)", a bodynote pattern, arranged from oldest to newest, then from A to Z. Meanwhile, the references at either the beginning or middle of a sentence, it is written in a system of "last name (year)”. In citing an article written by two authors, both last names (family name) must be mentioned, but for an article written by three or more authors, it is just the first author's last name (family name) who is mentioned followed by "et al." (italicized). Citation must refer to the primary references, the citation on the secondary reference indicated by the word of "in" is not allowed. Introduction to References sections are written in a font size of 11.

Research Methodology is included in a research paper. This section includes the materials, location of research, procedures, and data analysis. The certain important instruments can be mentioned in the procedure section. In a review paper, the methodology can be omitted.

Results and Discussion are written as a complete series without separation between the "Results" and "Discussion". The separation between the both is just carried out if there is a lot of observation parameters that must be discussed. The results should be written clearly and concisely, answering the questions of why and how the results occurred. The discussion should refer to the results of previous research and related references. Meanwhile, in a review paper, the main points of the discussion can be written directly. The core of the discussion can be divided into several sub-topics. There is no "References Review" section in this journal.

Conclusions is written briefly and concisely, in accordance with the results and discussion section (research paper), or the ideas that are explained in a core discussion (review paper).

Acknowledgment is presented briefly. All sources of research funding (grants) should be stated by including the number of the grant contract, as well as any potential conflicts of interest that may occur. People involved during the research can be written in this section.

References Type of citation refers to the American Psychological Association (APA) format. The references is sorted according to the first letter of the first author’s family name, from A to Z. The minimum number of references used is 10 references, at least 50% of the references are cited from scientific journal published in the last 10 years. References from blogs (blogspot), growing website (i.e. Wikipedia), newspapers and popular magazines should not be used. The recommended references are cited from websites published by research institution, universities or other credible websites (i.e. FAO, UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, Bappenas, Central Bureau of Statistics, as well as National Research and Innovation Agency /BRIN). Journal name can be abbreviated according to the abbreviation rule. The following is the examples of writing references.
