Abstract

Older people are very vulnerable in various aspects, especially loneliness at the end of their lives. In line with the decline in physical and mental conditions among the elderly, elderly people who are widows and widowers are remarrying. Marriage for the elderly is the second marriage in their lives after they have been widows and widowers for a long time because their life partner has died before them. In Bojongmanik Village, Sindangresmi District, Pandeglang Regency, remarriage in old age is now a common occurrence compared to the past, because nowadays social attitudes towards marriage in old age are more tolerant than in the past. The problems in this thesis are 1. What is the background to the phenomenon of elderly marriage in Bojongmanik Village. 2. How does old age marriage affect household harmony? 3. How does Islamic law review old age marriage and its influence on household harmony? The aim of this research is to determine the influence of household harmony on elderly marriages. To analyze the review of Islamic law regarding elderly marriage and its influence on household harmony. The type of research used is field research. Primary data was collected through observation and interviews, and complemented by secondary data. The analysis was carried out qualitatively using an inductive thinking method, namely originating from specific facts about concrete events from which general generalizations were drawn. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that household harmony can have an impact on someone who marries at an old age, namely for health, especially for women's reproductive health, economic aspects or earning a living, problems in communicating, differences in thinking, physical decline and decreased desire for sex. Elderly marriages in Bojongmanik Village, Sindangresmi District, Pandeglang Regency are permitted or legal according to Islamic law, if they fulfill the pillars and conditions determined by the syara', in Islamic law everything is explained regarding the procedures and procedures for carrying out a marriage. Marriage at an advanced age in Islamic law is permissible because it fulfills the Shari'a and marriage provisions according to Islamic law
