Abstract

This article seeks to examine the relationship between Islam and international human
rights and to build a paradigm of women's fiqh (fiqhu al-nisa) with a human rights
perspective with a dialogue approach. The type of research in this article is normative
legal research with three approaches namely normative, historical and conceptual
approaches. From the discussion, it can be concluded that Elizabeth Mayer divides the
response of Islamic groups to international human rights conventions into a simpler
division, namely conservative groups and liberal groups. Meanwhile in Indonesia, Greg
Fealy sees the response of Muslims to be 2, namely the Islamist group and the Liberal
group. The presence of Islam brought a major revolution to the pages of women's history
that were previously dark. Efforts are needed to build a new paradigm of women's fiqh
that is appropriate to the current context and in line with the universally applicable
principles of human rights today.
