Abstrak
One of the cultural heritages which is passed down from one generation to another is the oral tradition. Oral tradition contains a variety of local wisdom, cultural values, education, religion and cultural norms that can be utilized by the community for generations continuously. Mepende tradition that is the focus of this study is one of the oral traditions in the Ujungberung community of Bandung. This tradition is the tradition of putting children to sleep accompanied by the singing of the udder swinging by using a long cloth that is mounted on the roof of the house while swinging. This tradition is the work of a mother, telling her to sleep while showering the child with the words affectionate and affectionate. Regrettably, this mepende tradition has rarely been encountered because the process of regeneration did not work as it should as a form of preserving tradition and culture and promoting culture. This paper aims to reveal the various values of religious education contained in the mepende tradition with the accompaniment of udder. So as to increase understanding and practice of religious teachings through oral traditions. This paper is the result of a qualitative-descriptive study conducted in September 2019 in the city of Bandung. The values of religious education that can be taken from this tradition, namely glorifying mothers and prayers of a mother's blessing for life and life.
