The purpose of this study is to examine the new phenomenon of live streaming music performances on Malioboro Street, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Originating in China in 2023, the practice is quickly gaining popularity, changing the socio-cultural and economic landscape of the area. Through the use of platforms like TikTok, street musicians can now reach a global audience, generating tips and virtual donations. This study investigates the positive and negative impacts of these trends. These include increased revenues for musicians, increased cultural exposure, and potential challenges related to regulations and intellectual property rights. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach involving the government, civil society, and the private sector to ensure sustainable development and empowerment of street music communities.
