Sebagai akibat dari berbeda-bedanya segi memandang Alqur’an, didapati tafsir Alqur’an yang mempunyai corak tersendiri. Ada tafsir yang menitikberatkan pada kaidah nahwu, segi balaghah, i’jaz Alqur’an, fiqih, kalam, dan lain-lain. Adapun dalam al-Tafsir al-Kabir karya Ibnu Taimiyah itu berkecenderungan pada kajian tafsir kalami, fiqhi, ijtima’i dan mantiqi. Sebagian ulama, seperti Ibnu Taimiyyah, mengetahui aspek-aspek yang istimewa dalam mengekspresikan Alqur’an. Suatu hal yang mungkin dapat membentuk metode yang mengarah pada realitas Islam ketika ia mendekati persoalan kemasyarakatan dengan visi Alqur’an
