The Influence of National Geographic Wild Videos toward Students’ Writing Ability on Descriptive Text

Abstract

Abstract: This research was aimed to investigate the effect of using National Geographic Wild Videos on students writing ability. The research was conducted at first-grade students of SMAN 3 Kota Serang using quantitative research. By implementing quasi-experimental design as the research method. This exploration employed two groups: an experimental and control group. The subjects of this study were the first-grade students at SMAN 3 Kota Serang which are 38 students in the experimental group and 37 students in the control group respectively. The experimental group was taught by using National Geographic Wild video and control group was taught without using it. Both groups were analyzed using independent t-test. After collecting and calculating the data, the value of t_observation is bigger than〖 t〗_table. t_observation = 2,91 > t_table= 1,66 (5%) or t_observation = 2,91 > t_table = 2,37 (1%). Thus, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of using National Geographic Wild videos on students’ writing ability in descriptive text. The media give some impact on students such as they can produce and construct better in writing
